Training period: 2.5 years
1. TRAINING OBJECTIVES
1.1. General objectives
Trained learners with practical knowledge, broad theoretical knowledge about the profession of Biotechnology basic knowledge of politics, culture, society, law and information technology; develop cognitive skills, practical skills and communication skills to solve complex problems or tasks, work independently or in groups in changing working conditions, take individual responsibility, minimal responsibility for guidance, supervision, and evaluation of the group performing defined tasks.
After completing the training program and being awarded a college degree, trainers will take up work at the trained positions. Through working time, accumulating experience, leaners can take up jobs, higher employment positions of their profession.
In addition, learners can participate in continuing education to higher levels or self-study to meet and develop their careers.
1.2. Detailed goals:
After graduation, Biotechnology trainer learners are able to:
1.2.1 Knowledge
- Present the definitions, structures, functions and structural components of plant cells, microorganisms;
- Describe the principles of biology processes; growth process of plants and microorganisms;
- Present methods of extracting proteins – enzymes, explaining biochemical reactions occurring in cells;
- Apply the basic theory of experimental biology in the productions of fermented foods, microbial products, high-tech agricultural products, plant breeding….;
- Analyze the practical procedures: aseptic technique, using microscope, biochemistry experiment, molecular biology experiment; protein – enzyme experiment, analysis of micobiological criteria, analysis of some environmental indicators, plant propagation process, production process of microbial products, fementation products, high technological agricultural products and biosafety;
- Operate and maintain equipment and tools used in biotechnological application processes.
1.2.2 Skills
- Prepare materials, supplies, tools, equipment and a safe, effective working envirinment;
- Implement experimental biological processes to apply to the production of fermented products, high-tech agricultural products, plant breeding, microbial products….;
- Implement standard practice procedures: Perform aseptic techniques, operate microscopy, proceed biochemistry experiments, molecular biology experiments; Perform analysis of microbiological criteria, enviromental parameter analysis, implement plant propagation process, perform production process of microbial products, fermented products, high technological agricultural products … and product quality control, biosafety;
- Write reports on analysis results and provide information to customers;
- Update and maintain industry knowledge;
- Use information technology to job requirements;
- Use English as a foreign language equivalent to Pre-Intermediate - Level 2 English according to Vietnam Foreign Language Competency Framework (compatible with A2 level in CEFR).
1.3. Job position after graduation
Graduates of Biotechnology can work in the positions related to:
- Analysis and testing of microbiological, biochemical and environmental criteria;
- Isolation and breed of microorganisms;
- Plant propagation;
- Produce high-tech vegetables, tubers and fruits;
- Cultivation of mushrooms;
- Using microbial products in agriculture.
At regulatory agencies related to biology and biotechnology, microbiological technology, cell technology, genes; institute, laboratories, analysis and testing; plant propagation establishments; hi-tech vegetable, tuber and fruit production facilities. In addition, after graduation learner are also capable of self – employment, participating in labor export abroad.
