1. TRAINING OBJECTIVES

1.1. General objectives

Trained learners with practical knowledge, broad theoretical knowledge about the profession of Hotel Management basic knowledge of politics, culture, society, law and information technology; develop cognitive skills, practical skills and communication skills to solve complex problems or tasks, work independently or in groups in changing working conditions, take individual responsibility, minimal responsibility for guidance, supervision, and evaluation of the group performing defined tasks.

After completing the training program and being awarded a college degree, trainers will take up jobs at the trained positions. Through working time, accumulating experience, leaners can take up jobs, higher employment positions of their profession.

In addition, learners can participate in continuing education to higher levels or self-study to meet and develop their careers.

1.2. Detailed goals:

After graduation, Hotel Management trainer learners are able to:

1.2.1 Knowledge

- Describe the position and the role of the hotel, the characteristics of its operations as well as its economic, cultural, social and environmental impacts;

- Present the organizational structure, positions, roles, functions and duties of the departments in the hotel; the relationship between the departments in the hotel and propose measures to improve the quality of hotel services;

- Describe the basic business processes of the hotel: front desk service, room service, restaurant service, event organization and entertainment services;

- List the main types of equipment and tools at the hotel and their uses;

- Present the hotel service quality standards and the methods to evaluate service quality;

- Present the principles of ensuring security and safety, explain the reasons for complying with regulations on security and safety in the hotel to identify risks and preventive measures;

- Describe the process of planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring, checking and evaluating work results at all parts of the hotel;

- Present the principles and process of management in general as well as the management of human resources, assets, finance and hotel marketing in particular.

1.2.2 Skills

          - Strictly follow the customer service process at the work positions of the reception department, rooms, restaurants or conference and seminar areas according to the hotel’s standards;

 - Have good communication with customers, in line with customer service requirements at all job positions;

- Take care of customers and resolve customer complaints effectively;

- Use hotel equipment correctly and safely;

- Lead or participate in the development of a number of plans of the department such as: marketing plan; human resource plan; equipment and tools procurement plan; the plan of organizing conference, seminar or event;

 - Analyze and evaluate the business results of accommodation, catering, conferences, seminars and discover the causes and propose solutions to improve results and efficiency business results;

- Solve arising situations in hotel management activities and hotel operations; - Use computer to meet daily work requirements in the hotel;

- Form working groups and managing group activities;

- Manage working time effectively;

- Prepare reports, draft domestic documents, common contracts of hotels and restaurants;

- Use English as a foreign language equivalent to Pre-Intermediate - Level 2 English according to Vietnam Foreign Language Competency Framework (compatible with A2 level in CEFR).

1.3. Job position after graduation

Graduates of Hotel Management can work in the positions related to:

            - Receptionist;

            - Assistant executive housekeeper;

            - Restaurant Staff;

            - Food & Beverage Attendant;

            - Business man;

            - Supervisor;

            - Conference centre manager;

            - Event Manager

At all of Tourist accommodation establishments: Hotel, Homestay, Tourist Villa, Hostel.

2. VOLUME OF KNOWLEDGE AND COURSE DURATION

2.1 Volume of knowledge

- Number of subjects and modules in the program: 22 (including conditional subjects)

- Volume, knowledge and skills of the whole course: 2503 hours (102 credits), included:

+ Accumulated volume of compulsory subjects/ modules: 2364 hours

+ Volume of conditional subjects/ modules: 139 hours

+ Volume of  general subjects/ modules: 446 hours

+ Volume of specialized subjects/ modules: 2064 hours

+ Theoretical volume: 596 hours

+ Volume of  practice, internship, experiment: 1731 hours

+ Volume of test, review and end-of-course/ end-of-module exam: 176 hours
